Let It Bleed: A Great Follow Up From “Beggars Banquet”

Right after The Rolling Stones finished their amazing 1969 USA tour, they would get back down to business. With “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” – one of their greatest hits of all time – already penned and waiting in the bag for them, they decided to pen another great tune, “Let it Bleed.” This time lapse from the completion of ‘Beggars Banquet’ up until they penned these tunes would also net them another amazing and timeless classic, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”

This album is considered to be one of the greatest rock and roll albums of all time, and one of The Rolling Stones best records ever. So good in fact that critics frequently – at the time – would pit the might and muster of The Rolling Stones against that of The Beatles. And there was good reason for that at the time actually. You see, this album actually knocked The Beatles ‘Abbey Road’ down from the number one spot in the United Kingdom – although temporarily – in 1969. It would also go on to earn a number three spot on the US charts, and eventually sell double platinum in the US alone.

Even today rock mediums talk about this record of the past. Q Magazine even ranked it as the 68th best rock and roll album of all time, and that was in 1998. Ironically, two years later, in the year 2000, Q Magazine would up the ante and rank it as number 28. Finally, even Rolling Stone Magazine rated this album as number 32 on their list of the greatest rock albums of all time in 2003.

Rolling Stones: ‘Let It Bleed’ LIVE East Rutherford, New Jersey
I have found some awesome and rather intense footage of the Rolling Stones offering up a grueling and amazing performance of this timeless masterpiece album. It seems that some of the better Rolling Stones footage that I have stumbled across always comes from this city: East Rutherford, New Jersey. This film was shot during an impressive domestic tour that the Stones embarked upon in 1981 called ‘USA Tour 81.’ This particular concert took place on November 6th, 1981. So if you are wondering why the sound quality is poor or why the footage is a bit grainy, there you have your answer. However, I do like to post videos from all eras of the band so you can see how they have progressed, and so it is made very clear that this band is like fine wine: it only gets better over time!
