The Great Doggie Bag Debate
The Great Doggie Bag Debate
Did you know that taking your left-over food from a restaurant meal is a disturbing practice to some people? You might want to think twice before you stuff that half-eaten burger and fries in a to-go container the next time you go to your favourite eatery. And don't even think about eating your cold left-overs in the middle of the night in front of the refrigerator, like I do. You never know who's stomach you might be turning.
Check out what this blogger has to say about one of our favourite customs here in America. It seems that we Americans can do no right! If we dump the food, we're wasteful. And if we take it home to do with as we please, we're labelled tacky. I have a feeling that if all the food on the plate were eaten, this person would assume that Americans, as whole are gluttons....which not all of us are, thank you very much.
So my question is, does this custom seem disturbing to you? Isn't it more disturbing to let the food go to waste? Wouldn't we be getting as much heat from foreigners/critics if the food was being wasted? Isn't it really a personal choice if you get food poisoning from your left-overs? And aren't there worst things to criticize in restaurants in New Jersey, than doggie bags?
