Remembering the Blizzards of 2010

2010 was a unique year in that four different blizzards were recorded during that 12-month period. These storms brought heavy snowfall, driving winds, and extremely cold temperatures to those who were in their paths. They were also very widespread, with most of the country experiencing the effects of at least one of these winter storms.

The first one came in early February and was nicknamed “Snowmaggedon”. The storm began in Baja, California and traveled cross-country, finally reaching the coast of North Carolina on February 6, 2010. The effects of this blizzard were felt as far south as northern Mexico. In addition, some areas of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia in addition to Washington D.C. received as much as 35 inches of snow.
