Newt "Not Romney" Gingrich is on Top

As a follow up to a previous article Stupid Is as Stupid Does: More Republican Lunacy where I expressed dismay about New Gingrich’s views on child labor, it seems that many Americans are either not concerned with his statements or are simply looking for the next best not-Romney candidate as Newt is now on top. 

I have to admit; nearly 20 years ago I liked Mr. Gingrich’s Contract with America.  I appreciated that the Republicans were laying out a voting agenda regarding shrinking government, promoting lower taxes and welfare reform if they were to be elected and take a majority of Congress. There was a level of specificity that we rarely see in politics today.  But, that was nearly 20 years ago.  I was still in college, listened to Rush Limbaugh, and still thought the Soviets would rear up and return to power in Russia.  Oh how things have changed.

Yet, the Republicans have not.  Their conservative policies simply keep our country from moving forward and progressing.  Despite their efforts throughout the 1990’s in Congress and the 2000’s in the Presidency, our country is now in a serious economic slump.  I believe that it is many of those policies that have led us to where we are now; not 3 years of an Obama Presidency.  Then when President Obama strives to move us out of our slump, he is faced with stubbornness that does not allow for any compromise.  Thus, keeping us is this economic slump.

The lunacy prevails.  And I shudder to think of what is next from the Republicans.
