People today can sit around all they want and talk about how one boxer is better, stronger or tougher than another. But compared to the old-school ‘sport’ of bare knuckle boxing, those in the ring today are soft and squishy. There’s a reason that the old ways of doing things are no longer legal, after all. There were no big, padded gloves protecting fists and faces from repeated breakage and there were no 10 rounds fights. Some, in fact, lasted up to 100 rounds and the longest match on record is over six hours. In order to win a fight, the opponent had to be knocked flat. Consequently, the sport of fisticuffs sometimes ended in the death of one of its participants.
