Spark up your work out with role playing

Who doesn’t harbor fantasies?

Even those most dedicated gym-goer, who has developed a routine filled with variety and challenge, might enjoy sparking up occasional workouts with role playing. After all, who doesn’t harbor fantasies of winning the Boston marathon, swimming with sharks, or even more dramatically, rescuing hostages?

You might choose to keep your role playing simple and personal. For example, if you are running on a treadmill, put down your magazine and imagine running that marathon you’ve only dreamed about. Imaging the wind in your hair and the occasionally rocky terrain. Adjust your treadmill to add hills and plateaus.  Imagine the roar of the crowd carrying you onward to victory and a world record. You’re sure to enjoy the run more, and you might find you beat your own personal best time.
