The Republican Cage Fight Continues

Is it just me, or are the Republican primaries starting to look like an extended cage fight?  In this extreme ideological battle the GOP is left bruised, bloodied, and unenthused.  While the combatants are only focused on winning this long match, they are forgetting that the championship is actually about winning the White House.  Yet, instead the Republican fight is instead heading to a general-election suicide. But yet, the fight continues – and it’s only half over.

While the Republicans continue to tear each other apart and weaken their party, the current title-holder, President Obama continues to gather his strength.  Sure we are still face with economic woes and rising gas prices, but Obama remains the front runner in the eventual title match for the Presidency.

 President Obama’s re-election tactics are focused on representing himself as the defender of the forgotten American middle class. And there are signs that this strategy is succeeding. Right now a majority of Americans approve of Obama’s job performance. He is beating the battered GOP candidates in most polls. The sky-high expectations that followed his inauguration have been met with disappointment among many, but many are starting to see the reality that we cannot pull a country out of the despair of an eight year Bush reign to a sudden rise.

Yet, the rise is happening.  The economy is ticking upward and the President is seeing rising ratings due to the weak Republican field and their cage fight mentality that has immersed the primary process.  Obama also seems to have the edge among centrists and independent voters. American elections are won by the candidate who best connects with moderates and the middle class.  Right now, that seems to be the sitting President and not the bruised and battered combatants duking it out for the Republican nomination.
