Runner snapshot: Kenyon Neuman

Nike sponsored runner living and training in Boulder, Colorado

Kenyon Neuman is a Nike sponsored runner, competing on the professional circuit. He lives and trains in Boulder, Colorado, and is in the midsts of a great 2012 campaign. He took the time to answer some questions for Left Coast Running recently, and this is what he had to say.

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you started running.

I grew up in Bend, Oregon. I spent a lot of time being active, riding my mountain bike, playing soccer, playing tennis, snowboarding and more. Bend was a great place to grow up as I was close to many mountains, lakes and trails.

I started running as a freshman in high school after I didn't make the varsity soccer team. I felt that I should have been on the varsity team and I began running cross-country and playing soccer simultaneously. I eventually poured more of my focus into track and cross-country though I continued playing soccer for a little while.

How was your college experience?

I ran under Coach Mark Wetmore at the University of Colorado in Boulder. I had a fantastic college experience both academically and athletically. I didn't really know what hard training was until I started training at CU.My experience at CU was invaluable. Their Track and XC programs are second-to-none and Boulder is an amazing place to go to school. I liked it so much that I decided to continue living and training here post-collegiately.
