Why we love turtles
Okay, I forget that turtles are slow in responding, so I'm going to discuss why turtles make great pets.
Turtles are interesting and cute and can live for a long, long time when cared for correctly. Take for instance my two favorite celebrity turtles Cuff and Link from the movie Rocky. These adorable little red-eared sliders were still alive and kicking in 2006 when they returned to the screen in the final Rocky movie, thirty years after they made their movie debut in the first Rocky (No word if they're still alive, though). That's a sturdy pet for ya. You can look forward to sharing many, many decades with your turtle friend, some can even live up to 80 years!
Educating yourself and your kids about your turtle is part of the fun of owning one of these critters. Turtles are easy-going and have good-dispositions, but they need the right conditions if they're going to live a long, happy life. Make sure you have the right size tank for the species you have, and that they are kept at the adequate temperature, this is crucial since turtles are sensitive to their environment. And it's important to understand the needs of this animal so that it will trust you when you handle it.

Barbie vs Bratz: The verdict is in
....And the winner is... Barbie!
That's right, MGA the makers of the Bratz dolls has been ordered by a judge to pay Mattel $100 million for copyright infringement and contract inference, you can read more here.
Does this mark the end of Barbie's largest competitor? Mattel is seeking an injunction to stop the production of Bratz dolls by MGA, a move that could ruin the gaming company since the Bratz doll line is it's bread and butter.
Who would've thought the toy companies could be so cut-throat? It makes me wonder if this hard action from Mattel has anything to do with why it's stock is down these days.
In any case, I'm sure there will be more about this in the days to come, so stay tuned.

A little about the USAF
Hey kids...I was just browsing and found this site. Hopefully I can be of some help. I'm 21 years old, and I graduated BMT in April of 2001. I've almost been in for a year, so I kind of know the way things work. As far as getting to see g/f's or b/f's back home, it's only gonna happen when you take leave. Unless of course you get stationed close to home. You'll (usually) find out where your first duty station is around the second week of classes at your tech school. Bear in mind that you can be on AFI (pulling weeds, buffing floors) for weeks/months before your classes start! Be prepared for a trying long-distance relationship. I lost my girlfriend, in the end. As far as leave goes, you get 2.5 days per month starting as soon as you go to MEPS to leave. It adds up quickly; not a bad deal. And to the girl that's getting married in June: it's not that far away. You can handle it for a few more months. You've obviously gotten good at phone calls and letters by now. Once you've gotten married, you'll go with him whereever he goes, unless it's on TDY (temporary duty) in which case you'll be staying at home and maintaining things (bills, etc.) while he does his job elsewhere. And to the young lady that leaves on 19 MAR: Congratulations! You've made a very smart, career-oriented move. There's really no reason to be nervous, because basic isn't really all that bad. You, being 25, will probably be an element leader. Which means you'll be responsible for about 15 other airmen (all in the same bay as you) and will catch hell from your MTI when any of them fuck up. And they will. You'll have some 17 year olds in there who know it all, and it'll take them 5 weeks to finally realize what basic is all about: working as a team. Nonetheless, BMT was an experience I will never forget, as I made some of the best friends I'll ever have, and still talk to them most everyday. OK, I guess I've wrote a book...so I'll stop. Good luck to all of you in your Air Force careers, and maybe we'll work together someday!
