I had never imagined that I would have to come clean to my mother about quitting marijuana.
I grew up in a small town just south of San Francisco, where the redwoods met the Pacific, and weed was an accepted part of life. Everybody smoked, the surfers, the skaters, the teachers, and after the compassion club was raided by the fed, the mayor distributed medical marijuana on the steps of city hall in protest.
