Maybe not in the world, but in the Western, industrialized nations, they seem to hold the top spot, according to a new study. Britain comes out ahead of Australia, the US, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Germany in an international index measuring one-night stands, total numbers of partners and attitudes toward casual sex. Some believe that the reasons for British women's high ranking is due to the decline of religious scruples about extra-marital sex, growth of equal pay and equal rights to women, and a highly sexualized popular culture.  The researchers behind the study say high scores such as Britain's may be linked to the way society is increasingly willing to accept sexual promiscuity among women as well as men. The study was conducted by asking more than 14,000 people in 48 countries to fill in anonymous questionnaires. Respondents were asked about numbers of partners and one-night stands, and their attitudes were assessed by asking them how many people they expected to sleep with over the next five years. The results were combined into an index of so-called "socio-sexuality", the term used by evolutionary psychologists as a measure of how sexually liberal people are in thought and behaviour. Most individuals scored between 4 and 65. The country with the highest rating was Finland, with an average of 51. Taiwan came lowest, with 19. Britain scored 40, placing it 11th overall, behind countries such as Latvia, Croatia and Slovania -- but it was highest among the major western industrial nations. To look at the numbers and the full article click here.  So, I wonder what kind of impact this study will have on the world's opinion of British women?  Is the world to assume that Eastern Europe is crawling with slutty easy,  women? I always have to be a bit skeptical about what the intentions of this "research" really are.  I can picture a bunch of nerdy social scientists getting off from reading people's responses.  And, what's the margin of error?  Most people lie about their true behavior when it comes to these types of surveys.  Seems kind of silly.

Some of the turtles are getting caught in the fishing nets and lines when they come out to breed and some have been killed by the speed boats which are prevalent in the tourist hot bed that is Mandalya Bay. "Warning fishermen, tourism operators and fish farm owners," Bahattin Sürücü, chairman of Ecosystem Protection and Nature Lovers Foundation, said, "if we keep contaminating the seas, using jet skis and speedboats errantly and killing the animals, we will need to establish a cemetery for sea turtles."
