New Orleans travel: With Isaac threatening, put plans on hold

Hurricane risk very real, so what should visitors do?

As I write this, Tropical Storm Isaac is bearing down on the Florida Keys, with whipping, 60-mile-per-hour winds and torrential rains. Issac's path is of great concern to everyone along the Gulf Coast, nowhere more so than in New Orleans. For visitors who are in the Big Easy right now, it's important to keep your eyes and ears open. For those planning a trip to NOLA in the coming days, it's time to make some decisions.

Certainly the focus with Isaac and New Orleans is on the residents, but NOLA is a tourist town, so city and state officials will no doubt take this into consideration. Listen to what they say. If they tell you to get out, leave.
