A friend recently shared that you can actually purchase the status of a Lady or Lord in Scotland, since all you have to do to have the title is own a piece of land in the country. (That’s actually a little disturbing to me—shouldn’t you, like, have to perform a heroic deed or be knighted or something to have such a title?)
