Harold Shipman led a normal life for all intents and purposes and those who knew him said he showed no signs of murderous intent. He did very well in school, earned scholarships, got married and had four children. Later, this illusion would be somewhat shattered when Shipman became addicted to morphine. Although he was fired from his job as a general practitioner for forging drug prescriptions, he did not lose his license because of the incident. He continued in the medical field and eventually became a well-respected doctor.
