Enjoy winter activities

Don't hole up inside during snow season.

It is the first week of October and the leaves are turning shades of red, gold and brown. So far, the leaves haven’t began their regular tumble to the ground but as soon as the first frost hits—any night now—we’ll be hip deep in dead leaves. This is a rite of passage from summer to autumn and quickly to the wind and weather of winter.

I have vowed to myself and my family that I am not going to hole up in the house this winter and am in fact going to enjoy the freezing temperatures, blowing gales, swirling snow and icy roads. How, you may ask, is this possible? Hell, I don’t know, I just made the vow! But, seriously, I have entered into a sweetheart deal with a friend who has allowed me to purchase some games on his season tickets—which he has had for years—for Nebraska football. Go Huskers, even if it does involve a road trip.
