There are many blogs with good tips and suggestions on how to prepare and address the problems that winter weather poses. The problem is that none of them give information that is helpful to me and millions of other people in my condition. I am disabled and can barely manage to walk to my front porch, let alone shovel my sidewalks.
Of course, a non-disabled person might say I can hire that done. The cost for doing that is prohibitive, especially with the frequency of snowfall we receive in Washington State. The ordinance in our city demands the walks be cleared within 24 hours or be fined. However, shoveling sidewalks is only one problem. In order to address this and other problems posed by winter weather I have developed an affordable system that works for me and it may work for you or at least give other disabled people some ideas regarding their own situation.
Here are some of my solutions:
