Boi Bumba

Another amazing and colorful Brazilian carnival

Yet another one of Brazil’s amazing carnival traditions is Boi Bumba, in the town of Parintins.  This festival, which takes place on Tupinambarana Island alongside the Amazon River, is second in popularity only to the great carnival in Rio.  Though the population of the city is only around 100,000, an additional 100,000 people come from around the world to experience this great Brazilian tradition.
