The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts takes place at Worthy Farm in Pilton, near Glastonbury but not properly in it (despite the name). It’s been going on since 1970, starting as a free festival in the hippie tradition. The popularity of the event rose quickly and soon it was hosting some of the biggest names in music. Though it used to be almost exclusively about the music, it has now evolved to include a number of other entertainments. The Glastonbury Festival brings in more than 150,000 people to enjoy the music and fun every year.
