Earlier this week, a friend of mine posted several pets in need of homes that were going to be put down if they weren’t adopted by 4:00 the next day. What a sobering thought. Can you imagine a cuddly trio of kittens, here one day, gone the next—and we don’t even blink an eye! Dogs, cats and other animals are regularly put to sleep forever, euthanized because someone couldn’t fix their dog or cat, resulting in so many homeless babies. Abandoned animals are, of course, also euthanized.
I would like to plea with anyone who wants to get a new pet to PLEASE adopt from a shelter, your local animal control, and other animal adoption centers that are not breeders or puppy mills. I understand that breeders are trying to make money, but there really are too many cats and dogs in the world and it’s pretty much our own fault. We continue breeding them and selling them, and we’ve domesticated them enough to where they depend upon us to take care of them—yet we aren’t responsible enough to get them fixed!
