Manitoba’s Folklorama

A two-week celebration of the many cultures that make up Canada.

Folklorama first began in 1970 and was organized as a single, stand-alone event to celebrate the province of Manitoba’s centennial. It turned out to be so successful that they decided to keep the tradition going each and every year. Starting small, with just 21 pavilions and lasting seven days, Folklorama now lasts twice as long and has more than double the original number of pavilions on display.  It takes place in the city of Winnipeg in August of each year and has now become one of the largest and longest-running multicultural festivals in the world.
