Having worked in child care for over half my life now, I've watched the whole evolution of the Disney princess phenomenon. I've watched little girls becoming more and more enamored of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Belle as marketing got heavier, and anymore, when you get a group of little girls together, that's all they want to play -- and they bicker over who is going to be which princess. Considering most Disney princesses' greatest achievements were getting saved by a prince, this does not bode well for entire generations of little girls who are growing up under Disney's shadow.
