A green school is born

Take a look at Rosa Parks Elementary and see if your own school could make some changes.

When you think of places that could have a tremendous impact if they went green, government offices, the military, big businesses, and schools might come to mind. Some schools are trying to go the green route, and Rosa Parks Elementary is one such school.

Here are just a few things the school is doing to make itself greener:

  • Storm water is managed at the school, ensuring no harmful run-off
  • A large portion of its building materials are locally-sourced
  • The school is centrally located, encouraging walking and biking to and from school
  • The building uses around 24% less energy than other schools around the same size
  • No construction waste went to a landfill

Which of these could your local school do?
