If you have been paying attention to the Old Republic recently, you may have noticed a random world event pop up last weekend. It was never announced, and just “ happened.” On the fleets you hear new recorded audio playing with travel advisories warning about the rakgoul plague, and news videos stating that Tatooine has had an outbreak. This is where the fun starts.
Going to Tatooine is deadly. There are several event quests with a great many rewards. Naturally you need to be careful to not be infected yourself, to do this you have the choice to buy a antidote that lasts six hours, allowing you to quest and get a few items without fear of infection. Not exactly a good thing however if you want some special green and black lightsaber crystals or a pet rakgoul. For those you have to be infected, and in your final moments of life “ pop” around other players to infect them, and gain “ DNA” which acts like a commendation token. It can be a long process considering the plague takes 20 min to progress, but one server found a fun way to work the system: by playing Red Rover.
