So much for speculation about whether moviegoers would go for an Expendables sequel: The Expendables 2, which reunites Sylvester Stallone with his rag-tag group of action heroes, including Jason Statham and Bruce Willis, was the number one movie at the weekend box office.
Still, it was a down weekend overall. Overall, the numbers suggest far fewer movie fans hit theaters, even with a slew of new film offerings. But hey, it's August: It's time for back to school and football, right?
