While flipping through the channels tonight, I ran across several movies that I have loved for years. These movies make for great dates, whether they’re tear jerkers or snuggle-worthy sigh fests. You can find them on Starz, Showtime and other subscription channels right now.
Phenomenon
“He bought her chairs.” Ah, is there anything more romantic than that? If you’ve seen the movie, you know exactly what I am talking about! The movie is mainly about John Travolta as a small town mechanic who is sort of struck by a strange light that is never identified, leaving him with the gifts of rapid reading, memory skills, incredible creative and critical thinking, and even telekinetic powers. But the part of the story that’s so lovely is his romance with single mom Kyra Sedgewick. The shaving scene in this movie is probably one of the most intimate, sexy scenes I’ve ever seen. Of course, it’s also incredibly sad, and there’s a scene that I’d rather end the movie at instead of its actual ending.
