Can I get a real mom in Hollywood?

These age portrayals are getting ridiculous.

Once an actress is past the age of, oh, 23, it seems like there are only two roles left for her in Hollywood: mother or the old woman. I haven’t seen Julia Stiles in anything since the Bourne movies—which is a complete waste, considering how great she is!—and now she’s suddenly Jennifer Lawrence’s mother?

That would have made her 11 when Jennifer was born.

OK, I think Stiles took a few years off to attend Columbia college—which makes sense, since she seems wicked smart and does lots of Shakespeare on screen and elsewhere; I am happy for her—and she did some television, including the hit show Dexter and a few other roles, but that doesn’t mean that when she gets back to filmmaking, she has to play the mom to the leading lady of the day.
