So I like violent movies. I was essentially raised to enjoy a good murderous rampage. So I can actually get kinda picky about my violence and I will when it’s just sloppily tossed into a story or it’s so hammy it draws the wrong type of attention to itself. Valhalla Rising impressed me because it parses out its violence in doses that break up the silence and open expanses of time that define the film and it does so in such a way that it offered a balance that worked quite well.
