Apparently coyotes hate golf

Other predators also cause trouble on the golf course.

Where I live, the biggest threat on the golf course is soggy weather and maybe some picturesque deer. But in Vancouver, Canada, a pack of coyotes is causing headaches for the staff working at the CN Canadian Women's Open golf tournament.

Coyotes have been responsible for a surprising amount of equipment damage so far. Television crews have had their cables chewed, with several cables along the fairway having to be replaced already. Crews have soaked other cables in vinegar in the hopes that it will dissuade the coyotes. (Psst, try Bitter Apple spray instead!)

A producer with Canadian network CBC reports that the coyotes seem to have a particular attraction to the cables which are strung between holes 14 and 17. Crews have taken to stringing the lines up in the air, held aloft by ropes, to keep them out of the mouths of gnawing coyotes.
