The oldest hotel in Japan, and possible the oldest in the world
Those who know their hotels have probably heard of Japan’s Hoshi Ryokan. This hotel, located in Komatsu, Ishikawa Prefecture, is renowned for being one the oldest hotels in the world and also holds the distinction of being the world’s longest continuously operating business. First opened in 717, the same family has been in charge of running the hotel for nearly 1300 years, spanning across an amazing 46 generations.
