Deadmau5 does not consider himself a DJ. The word does not accurately describe what he does. He considers himself a musician. He wants his crowds to hear his music when they come to his shows. Deadmau5’s real name is Joel Zimmerman, and he is from the town of Niagara Falls in Canada.
He got his start in the music business as a teenager, when the music he made with the chips from discarded old computers earned him a gig collaborating with Tommy Lee on his album Methods of Mayhem. The two have remained friends through the years and have even collaborated again on other projects.
