Is Todd Akin trying to lose?

Remember Todd Akin, the Republican running against Claire McCaskill for Missouri Senate who made the whole “legitimate rape” comment? Now he’s making comments against McCaskill, calling her “unladylike,” because we all know that Todd is a total expert on what makes a lady. After all, he’s the one who said your body shuts down and doesn’t let you get pregnant if you are raped—never mind that about eight pregnancies a day are caused by rape.

The fact that this man still has a chance at winning—the fact that political PACs are still funding him with hundreds of thousands of dollars—proves to me that many of the men in this country doesn’t think women are people. Why else would they vote for someone who has such disdain for them, who casts them aside and deems that they have fewer rights—and consideration—than animals?

The fact that these people are willing to not just vote for this man but to back him financially is very telling. And the fact that his wife claims that he is being “raped” by the media—hardy har har, because it’s such a valid comparison!—shows me that women are buying the purple kool-aid, too.
