I'll tell Obama to shuck and jive if I darn well want to!

I'm not racist, so it's OK if I use racist phrases.

Listen. I don't want to sound racist. Because I'm not racist! The fact that I used a racist phrase in reference to a black president has nothing to do with it. I have called Obama a lot of things. This is just another one of them.

Plus, I use the phrase "shuck and jive" to my daughter Piper all the time. I tease her with it. It's what I say when I think she should do her homework instead of whatever it is she's doing instead. Piper is part Yupik by the way.

Is it racist if I tell my part-Yupik daughter to stop the shuck and jive? Is it racist if I do it while wearing blackface? Is it racist if my part-Yupik daughter puts on whiteface? How does this work, because seriously I want to know. I don't understand the first thing about why people get offended about racial stuff. Probably because I grew up in a state that is, like, 99 percent white.
