Is LD% Driven By Luck?

=== With a Little Luck, Dept. === An amigo responded to our post on Dunn by replying, reasonably, "Well, his BABIP should have been down. His LD% was down by 2%." .......... Let me lay down the debate on Adam Dunn for a second, and ask this question not to defend a guy who probably won't be a Mariner, but just because it raises an interesting question.   Never mind the bets of baseball caps as to whether Adam Dunn is going to post a .258 BABIP again in 2009 (he almost certainly won't.  More likely, .258 of all infielders will be injured during his AB's). Can a player's LD% go up or down .... NOT due to any change in the batter's skill over one year's time ...
