humane society is a wonderful place to start off at. They are always looking for volunteers to help out. If you kids are old enough, they can help out with the cats. They can do jobs like cleaning out their cages, feeding, watering and giving them some much needed love and attention. This is great for kids that want to bring a kitty home and learn what type of responsibilities they will need to take on to keep a pet.
Dogs are also housed at the humane society. With limited staff to take care of all the animals, they love to have volunteers for the dogs. Dogs need a lot of exercise, play and attention.
