Getting Out of Safeco

Earlier, we issued a Future Advisory Watch on Sexson's career as he gets outside of Safeco. I'm not guaranteeing that he'll return to 2005 form -- life is complicated. The park, the age, the personal life, a lot of things weigh in. But there is an alarming number of RH hitters who look to me like they were simply destroyed by hitting in Safeco (and/or for this organizations). When we suggested Jeff Cirillo, Miguel Olivo and Scott Spiezio as examples, we got the volley back, "Well, it's not like those guys really played that well after Safeco." An interesting counter that deserves a specific response. I think this poster put his finger on the reason that the Seattle 'net did not really notice the revivals of these players: it's because they didn't go win MVP's, so to speak, after they left here. Everybody will give you Carlos Guillen as a case in point. ;- ) He's a guy who increased his OPS+ by 40 points -- from 100 to 140. But he's just one guy -- a "flier" in the eyes of many. But what if a guy increases his OPS+ from 60 to 100?
