Nothing makes life better like a bowl of perfect gumbo and great NOLA music.
When people find out I've got close ties to New Orleans, I am almost always asked if I can cook. Specifically, those who consider themselves amateur chefs ask if I can make a good roux and/or a great gumbo. Yes, I can, but it took years of practice. I much prefer to leave the heavy cooking to others.
If you're a gumbo lover, head to NOLA this coming weekend, because the Treme Creole Gumbo Festival is happening, and it's amazing!
