I am 70 years of age and have never before observed the general mood and tacit acceptance of economic and social turmoil facing the United States. The problem isn’t that the average person—when pressed for an opinion—doesn't believe a financial accounting is hurdling toward us, the problem is that same person is unconcerned. By unconcerned, I mean that people simply are not thinking about the current recession and the highest unemployment rate since 1937 (the true unemployment rate is approximately 15 percent when all indices are compiled.)
