One more way to go "barefoot"

Steven Sashen's Invisible Shoes

Lately it seems that there are a million and one ways to go minimalist. Think about it. Luna Sandals. Vibram FiveFingers. Altras. If you haven't  added Invisible Shoes to the list of minimalist running options already, here's why you should.

Invisible Shoes are the creation of Steven Sashen, an athlete in Boulder, Colorado. Sashen, whose interests include meditation, software development, and playing the marimba, was an All-American gymnast who eventually turned to track and field. His new specialty was sprinting, but he was plagued by injuries. Sashen says that he didn't go two weeks without ripping or pulling something. Just when he was about to get fed up with the whole running gig, a friend suggested that Sashen try going barefoot.

You can probably guess what happened next. By adopting barefoot running, Sashen found himself running farther than he ever had before, and his injuries were gone within weeks. His lifelong flat feet finally developed arches, too.
