Last week I wrote about the Big Dipper and how you can use it to locate the Little Dipper and Polaris, the North Star. Because the Big Dipper is so well known and so easy to see in the night sky at most times of the year, it is an excellent reference point for finding other constellations. The best time to use the Big Dipper as a guide to other constellations is during winter mornings and spring evenings.
