Politics Influence Public Opinion on Climate Change, Not Science

A new study reveals that political rhetoric guides public's acceptance of man-made climate change more than the climate science.

With the alleged leaking of incriminating memos from The Heartland Institute, climate change is once again in the headlines. If you’ve noticed that it’s been awhile since that’s happened, you’re not alone. A new study released in Climate Change tracks the ebb and flow of public opinion on the science of man-made global warming, and attempts to attribute apparent backslide of support in the last five years. The findings, as reported in Ars Technica, reveal that the public, as a whole, seems to be listening to politicians more than they are to scientists doing the actual work.
