Whales not a Priority Over "National Security"
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court ruled that the US Navy can conduct sonar training exercises off the Southern California coast without restrictions. The high court threw out a federal judge's injunction that had required the Navy to take precautions when conducting submarine-hunting exercises.
"Environmental groups brought the lawsuit and said the intense sound waves can harm or even kill 37 species of marine mammals, including sea lions and endangered blue whales, by interfering with their ability to navigate and communicate. Chief Justice John Roberts, who wrote the opinion for the court's conservative majority, said the overall public interest in the case tipped strongly in favor of the Navy. In reading part of his ruling from the bench, Roberts agreed with the administration and criticized the judges in California for "second-guessing" the views of the Navy. The Bush administration argued that there has been no documented case of sonar-related injury to marine mammals in the 40 years of exercises off the southern California coast." There was, however one voice of reason: "In her written dissent, Justice Ginsburg cited the substantial and irreparable harm to marine mammals, saying sonar has been linked to mass strandings and hemorrhaging around the brain and ears. She said the training exercises serve critical interests, but they do not authorize the Navy to violate the environmental laws."You can read the entire article here. This ruling is very disappointing to whale conservationists, and it's another sad reminder of what the US Government holds as a priority. Our national security is important but so is the security of the wildlife that we trespass upon. Hopefully with the incoming administrassion, some of these inhumane rulings will be reassessed.
Major Hotel Brand Coming to Sochi 2014 Olympics
The resort city of Sochi, one of Russia's most popular tourist destinations will be adding a new hotel, just in time for the 2014 Olympic Games. The city is getting a boost in it's economy with several international tourism companies openeing up, including Hertz which opened three branches, Austrian Airlines, and Radisson SAS.
"Sochi 2014 today heralded the announcement that the international hotel chain, Sheraton, plans to open a hotel in Russia’s host city for the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The new hotel development, which will open in 2011, is a further example of major investment into Sochi as a result of the city being awarded the right to host Russia’s first ever Winter Games. The new 200+ room hotel will play an important role in the transformation of Sochi, which is already Russia’s most popular summer tourist destination welcoming more than four million visitors a year. The area currently boasts around 400 2-5 star hotels, with that number set to increase significantly up to 2014 and beyond. Dmitry Chernyshenko, President and CEO of Sochi 2014, said: “I am delighted that Starwood Hotels and Resorts has chosen Sochi to build only the second Sheraton Hotel in Russia. More than five years before Russia’s first Winter Games takes place it is already acting as a major catalyst for investment in the Krasnodar Region. This will create a significant economic legacy for the people of Sochi, including new jobs, while providing a huge opportunity for the companies recognising the potential of our beautiful Black Sea resort.” The Sochi Sheraton will be a top-of-the-range hotel, including five restaurants, four bars, including a roof-top bar with views of the Black Sea and its surroundings."

nail trouble!
please! i put acrylic nails on my myself yesterday and i got tired of them, so i took them off. but 2 of them won't come off, and i tried everything! i need them off for tomorrow! plus, the glue stuck to my nails and they all look really crappy. is there anything i can do by tomorrow?

Bible-Thumping Vegetarian Haters
This morning while looking up recipes for up-coming Thanksgiving Day, I stumbled upon a really scary website. You know how the internet is, you start out with one thing and before you know it....well, I found some religious, militant vegetarian-haters. What's most disturbing is that this group called vegan_debate.htm">Bible Life Ministries, is using the "Good Book" to preach for their radical, pro-carnivore lifestyle.
What's really scary is the tone and their weak arguments, which basically state that vegetarianism is some form of brain-washing and that God meant for us to eat meat.
Read this nugget of hatred:
"The Bible describes those who recommend abstaining from eating meats as extremely evil. They are teaching doctrines of devils with lies and hypocrisy. The same is said about those who are against marriage."Who are these people?
"The vegan diet wipes out the hormonal system in males. Their testosterone level plunges. The sperm count plunges, and the can't get it up, erectile dysfunction (ED). They become impotent sissies. This is the reason vegan males become submissive to females and become homosexual. They can be seen carrying peace signs in demonstrations and are ready to surrender. The fact that the vegan diet makes humans less fertile proves humans did not evolve as vegetarians."Being a vegetarian can make men into impotent sissies? Is that a technical term? Don't forget about the ladies now.

YES, he should be able to come home if he starts tech school in NOV, I went through tech school on nov 16, 1998. I didn't have a problem going home. If he needs to fly he needs to book asap. Phases are time period where he'll earn back priveleges, like wearing civilian clothing again, extedned curfews, and off base priveleges. when you first get there hell be in uniform at all times for the first 2 weeks and have to be in bed by 9-10. He'll get a chance to upgrade a phase every 2 weeks or so. I was in tech school for 19 weeks and I made it to phase 4. hardly anyone makes it to phase 5 unless youve been there 180 days. look me up if you have more questions. F15EFlyguy72 on AIM/yahoo
