Sochi Gets a New Wrestling Complex for 2014 Games

A new "world-class" wrestling training complex opened Monday for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, named after three times Olympic Greco-Roman Champion Alexander Karelin. The complex has the capacity to train ten teams simultaneously.

The opening ceremony was attended by Sochi 2014 President and CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko; State Duma deputy and Olympic gymnastics champion Svetlana Khorkina; and State Duma Committee for Physical Culture and Sport, and Olympic figure skating champion Anton Sikharulidze.

Chernyshenko said at the ceremony, "we can already see real results of Sochi becoming one of the main sports centres in Russia - the opening of this new sports training complex is perfect proof of this. Children from all over the country will be able to train here." Read the whole story here.

Now today she started urinating on the floor, she has never had a problem like this before.....Is she sick or is this normal behavior after being with a tomcat?????

Is Joe Jonas A Bad Boyfriend?

How could anyone call this boy bad? Look at his sweet, sweet face!  Well, according to his ex-girlfriend pop princess(not Hannah Montana), Taylor Swift, he dumped her for an actress named Camilla Belle! The dreamy Jonas brother didn't even have the courtesy to do the deed in person, instead opted for a 27 second break-up phone-call.  Now Swift is spilling the beans to anyone who will listen, about how Joe kicked her to the curb after meeting the young Belle. But Joe Jonas is setting the record straight and clearing his name.  What better place to air out your relationship drama than on myspace! Here's what the 19 year-old heart-throb had to say:
"I never cheated on a girlfriend. It might make someone feel better to assume or imply I have been unfaithful but it is simply not true," he said. "Maybe there were reasons for a breakup. Maybe the heart moved on. Perhaps feelings changed. I am truly saddened that anything would potentially cause you to think less of me." As for the quick phone call, he said: "I called to discuss feelings with the other person. Those feelings were obviously not well received. I did not end the conversation. Someone else did. Phone calls can only last as long as the person on the other end of the line is willing to talk. A phone call can be pretty short when someone else ends the call. The only difference in this conversation was that I shared something the other person did not want to hear. " Jonas said he has tried to call Swift since then and gotten no response.
So there you have it.  Joe Jonas is saddened, I hope you're happy Taylor Swift!

Advice for the Messy Single Mom

That's me!  I am probably one of the messiest people I know.  It's not like I was brought up this way, my father is a neat freak and my mother has always been a fairly organized lady.  So why is it that I find it so difficult to clean up after myself and my ten year-old daughter?  You would think that after nine years of being on my own I would've figure it out, but alas, I am a total slob.  My apartment looks like a college dormitory with books scattered all over the place, clothes hanging from my painting easel, shoes in every door way, it's not a pretty sight.  But I do try once a week to get it together, only to see it all unravel again by Tuesday.  When I lived with my child's father I was expected to run a tight ship, he was very much like my father, a neat freak to the T. I've wondered many times if this isn't my way of rebelling against both him and my father.  My father used to tell me when I was growing up that I lacked discipline.  Honestly, I think I just found chores to be boring.  I was a normal child who wanted to play outside, not have to wash the dishes and clean my room. But this whole concept of discipline really bummed me out.  As an adult I find myself feeling guilt-ridden by my lack of it.  I lay awake at night thinking about how I could improve in this department.  I told my therapist about this recently and she gave my some advice: she said forget the word discipline, and do what you need to do because it will make your life better. Could it be that easy?  Could I undo thirty years of bad habits with this new mantra?  That's doubtful.  So I went online looking for advice from other moms.  I found this great article with some pointers.
Make your meals for the week on the weekend... Lay out their clothes ahead of time—I would plan out what they were going to wear for the week.... Prioritize or re-prioritize—What's more important to your children—putting all the toys away in their proper place or having a tea party with them?
I know, seems real simple right?  But my favorite piece of advice:
Cut yourself a break—guilt doesn't help anyone. You can't do everything perfectly and remember that no one can no matter what her circumstances.

Obama Victory Spurs Hate Crimes and Racism Across the Country

It was one of the most monumental elections in US history.  November 4, 2008, will be remembered by many as one of the most memorable days of their lives.  For many, Barack Obama's victory is symbolic of a new era in this country's history.  One where race is no longer an issue.   Thousands of people were seen on televisions across the nation rejoicing and celebrating our new president-elect.  America had overcome one of it's ugliest hurdles, racism. But in some parts of the country, Obama's win has not been well-received.  America's racist shadow has been awakened. An article from the AP reports that from California to Maine, police have documented crimes ranging from vandalism and vague threats, to at least one physical attack.  It seems like all age groups are in on the action, from adults, to college students, to second-graders.  Many are not happy with an African-American president. There have been "hundreds" of incidents since the election, many more than usual, said Mark Potok, director of the Intelligence Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate crimes. Here are some of the reported incidents, to read the article in it's entirety click here.
_Four North Carolina State University students admitted writing anti-Obama comments in a tunnel designated for free speech expression, including one that said: "Let's shoot that (N-word) in the head." Obama has received more threats than any other president-elect, authorities say. _At Standish, Maine, a sign inside the Oak Hill General Store read: "Osama Obama Shotgun Pool." Customers could sign up to bet $1 on a date when Obama would be killed. "Stabbing, shooting, roadside bombs, they all count," the sign said. At the bottom of the marker board was written "Let's hope someone wins." _Racist graffiti was found in places including New York's Long Island, where two dozen cars were spray-painted; Kilgore, Texas, where the local high school and skate park were defaced; and the Los Angeles area, where swastikas, racial slurs and "Go Back To Africa" were spray painted on sidewalks, houses and cars. _Second- and third-grade students on a school bus in Rexburg, Idaho, chanted "assassinate Obama," a district official said. _University of Alabama professor Marsha L. Houston said a poster of the Obama family was ripped off her office door. A replacement poster was defaced with a death threat and a racial slur. "It seems the election brought the racist rats out of the woodwork," Houston said. _Black figures were hanged by nooses from trees on Mount Desert Island, Maine, the Bangor Daily News reported. The president of Baylor University in Waco, Texas said a rope found hanging from a campus tree was apparently an abandoned swing and not a noose. _Crosses were burned in yards of Obama supporters in Hardwick, N.J., and Apolacan Township, Pa. _A black teenager in New York City said he was attacked with a bat on election night by four white men who shouted 'Obama.' _In the Pittsburgh suburb of Forest Hills, a black man said he found a note with a racial slur on his car windshield, saying "now that you voted for Obama, just watch out for your house."
Is racism in this country something that will always exist, regardless of what progress we seem to be making?  Will it ever be defeated?  Or is it like a bad seed, that once planted in the subconscious of this nation, no matter how hard it is suppressed, eventually it will rear it's ugly head? Some are wondering if this wave of hate has been incited by the dirty campaign run by the Republicans.  Specifically, the Alaska governor Sarah Palin. According to Secret Service agents, Palin’s repeated questioning of Obama’s patriotism sparked off the death threats from white supremacists. According to The Telegraph of London, Palin attracted criticism for accusing Obama of "palling around with terrorists", citing his association with the 1960s radical William Ayers. In this article from The Standard Online:
The attacks provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling "terrorist" and "kill him" at Obama until the McCain campaign ordered her to tone down the rhetoric. But it has now emerged that her demagogic tone may have unintentionally encouraged white supremacists to go even further. The Secret Service warned the Obama family last month that they had seen a dramatic increase in the number of threats against the Democratic candidate, coinciding with Palin’s attacks. Intelligence analysts Stratfor have already warned that Obama is a high-risk target for racist gunmen. "Two plots to assassinate Obama were broken up during the campaign season, and several more remain under investigation. We would expect federal authorities to uncover many more plots to attack the president that have been hatched by white supremacist ideologues," it said.
Maybe the hatred was already there, maybe Obama's win would have had the same consequences even if Palin had played a clean game.  But I don't doubt that she came along and stoked the fires of hatred with vitriol and slander. In October I wrote a post about my fears of a Sarah Palin Vice-Presidency, I referred to her as an arch-enemy of peace.  I am afraid this is her legacy, to us in the lower 48.
