The Four Agreements, Ancient Toltec Wisdom
The Four Agreements
By Don Miguel Ruiz
In The Four Agreements, don Miguel Ruiz reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. Based on ancient Toltec wisdom, the Four Agreements offer a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love. The Four Agreements are: Be Impeccable With Your Word, Don't Take Anything Personally, Don't Make Assumptions, Always Do Your Best. This tiny book is full of crap. I know everybody loves it, Oprah definately did, which is why I think it became a bestseller. But as far as spirituality goes, this book is a bit too self-important. The wisdom that Don Miguel offers is contradictory and half-assed. There really isn't very much substance. And I'm not impressed with some of the terms he uses to describe certain concepts, such as negativity, which he refers to as "black magic." There is actually a real arrogant tone to Ruiz, maybe it is a cultural thing, I don't know, but there is a lack of compassion in his approach to life, maybe that has to do with the fact that he is a surgeon in real life. I don't recommend this book, it demeans the whole genre of self-help and spirituality.
Proof?
I was just going through all the messages on the board and realized that almost every single Christian (I choose to seperate the terms mormons and Christians) have given logical arguments concerning the bible. All of the mormons seem to hide behind their mantra that they repeat over and over again in order to help them (or assure themselves) that they hold the truth. I want to see even one mormon give a reliable fact that can prove the validity of Mormon doctrine. Or you could just go with mormon366 way of concluding that the church of latter day saints is true by spouting off some testimony that every mormon has learned since they could speak. Now I don't know about you but I know that there are plenty of testimonies in every religion (actually more apparant in cults) that states anywhere from satan being able to overcome god during the latter days all the way a giant asteroid coming by that we could hop onto after killing ourselves.
Doesn't it seem very suspicious to you that Joseph Smith translated some old tablets that were found in the ground and they magically dissapeared? There are about fourteen different versions of the vision, which one is the correct one? The "first vision" actually was what Joseph Smith described as a bloody ghost that would show him where some treasure was buried. This soon developed into an angel and then eventually to the father and the son. (I find it more likely for a bloody ghost to visit someone of Joseph's stature than ever the father and the son, but that's just my opinion).
Before Joseph Smith's death some of his friends decided to play a joke on him and engrave a tablet with some phony symbols then bury it along with a few bones. They showed the tablet to Joseph and he started to translate the stone, however before he got finished "translating" it, he was killed. Later a group of scientists decided to check the age of that particlar tablet and through carbon dating found it was from the mid-1800's. In the Book of Abraham, in which Joseph found an ancient tablet engraved with "reformed Egyptian," his translation abilities truly shone through, here is an example of what he translated for a hieroglyphic that simply meant "pool." Book of Abraham 1:12 And it came topass that the priest laid violence upon me, that they might slay me also, and they did those virgins upon this alter...and so on.
Let's look at some quotes by well known members of the mormon church..
Bruce R. McConkie
"No true Latter-day Saint will ever take a stand that is in opposition to what the Lord has revealed those who direct the affairs of his earthly Kingdom. No Latter day saint who is true and faithful in all things will ever pursue a course,or espouse a cause, or publish an article or book that weakens or destroys the faith."
Marion G. Romney
"Always keep your eye on the president of the church, and if he ever tells you to do anythying even if it is wrong, and you do it, the Lord will bless you for it but yu don't need to worry. The Lord will never let his mouthpiece lead the people astray." Wow doesn't that seem like a circular statement?
I was talking to one of my mormon friends and I told him to read the biography "Know man knows my history: a life of Joseph Smith" that was written by a mormon (and no it wasn't a person researching from an anti-mormon site). But he told me he didn't want to read anything to make him doubt his faith. Don't you want to know the truth? I know I have researched the bible many times over in order to decide whether I wanted to stay Christin or not, I chose to because there is plenty of historical accuracy involved with the bible. Mormons can fail to point out one. Why does the book of mormon make references to horses when horses were not even on the North American continent until about the 16th century? Where are are all of the cities the book of mormon talks about? There fails to be any archaelogical evidence of any of the books bold statement (excluding a stone that supposedly depicted Tree of Life vision).
Sally made the statement that we are a bunch of "parrots" for looking on anti-mormon sites and repeating what we see. That has to be one of the funniest things I've ever heard..why don't you tell me your testimony again?

How to Maximize Your Shopping On Black Friday
Here are five tips that will help you get your best shopping done on the busiest shopping day of the year:
1. Don’t shop at peak hours.
Go to the mall in the early morning or the late evening for your purchases. You’ll avoid crowds, lines, and the inevitably desperate search for a parking spot within a mile of the mall.
2. Plan ahead.
Know whom you’re shopping for, exactly what you want to buy for each person, and where you can find these items.
3. Go with a list, and stick to it.
Don’t be suckered in by flashy “On Sale” signs and people handing out coupons. You’ll just end up spending extra time and money that you didn’t want to.
4. Don’t underestimate the power of gift cards.
It seems our friends and family are always returning or exchanging the gifts we buy for them because something isn’t right. Instead, save yourself and your loved ones the hassle and let them choose their heart’s desire when it’s convenient for them. You’ll know that you’ve gotten them exactly what they want, as long as you pick the right store.
5. Try online shopping.
You can spend as much or as little time as you want perusing a store’s items. You won’t have to deal with lines, grumpy checkout people, parking spots, or crowds. And you’ll never have to go to another store to get the right size or color. Plus, many sites offer free shipping - and you'll save money on the gas you'd use driving to the mall.
Reconsidering Barbara Walters Interview
Friday, November 28th
9:21am
Dear Diary,
After watching Barbara Walter’s preview of our interview, I have to say, I have mixed feelings. She thinks we’re “cute.” I guess that’s fine. I would rather be considered friendly and astute, but I suppose cute works for now. She also said that we’re funny, describing that mortifying lipstick incident as “funny” and how that shows Barack’s sense of humor. Barack was just trying to be nice by making sure I look my best. But it certainly was not funny. Just embarrassing. Ugh, I’m still annoyed that that was published on national television. But I guess I have to expect that kind of publicity now that I’m the First Lady.
Barbara also made me out to be a bit of a tyrant in the family. I can’t believe she went back and quoted Barack on this preview, saying that I always get the last word because when “Mama’s happy, everybody’s happy.” I suppose that’s true, and I do get the last word. But it certainly didn’t need to be put on national television. Really made me angry (though I tried to smile) when Barack talked about how I “get under his skin when I’m unreasonable.” That is private family business, and I’m going to talk with him about this. We can’t keep doing these interviews if he’s going to continue to bash me on television. At least Barbara had the common decency to mention that I keep Barack grounded.
I’m just hoping that she finds me cute enough to invite me to go on the View. I love that show. But more importantly, I need the publicity, and would like to win the admiration of those audiences, if I don’t already have it.
Your always,
Michelle

I just bought a family arabian mare. She has a bent leg and I saw on a web site that putting in boiling water will heat it enough to bend it back. When I tried this, the leg got a white film on it and it won't come off by rubbing, goo-gone, or by cooling it. When I cool it, the leg temperarily stays normal, then back to the white film. Can Someone give me any suggestions, they would be helpful. Thanx
my cat seems to be sick
About a day or two ago my male cat seemed to start to act a bit strange, he drowls out the left side of his mouth and lays weakly almost all day long. He also seems to be very un-interested in almost everything. He goes over to the food and water bowl and smells it but doesn't seem to eat or drink any. Any suggestions to what he might have would be great or what I might be able to do for him. Thanks for the help- JIll
Re: Car Shakes at high speeds, and brake pedal shakes when i push it to stop
I have a '93 Pontiac Grand Am, about 130,000 miles. When im driving on the highway and reach about 65-70mph my car shakes violently, it shakes alot more when i turn to the right, and when i turn to the left it doesnt shake as much.
Also, when i push the brake pedal the pedal and the car shakes, the faster i go and push the brakes the harder the pedal and car will shake. When im pulling up to a Red light at slow speeds i push the brakes and it feels like there a lump or something on the brake pad and everytime it like goes over it the pedal shakes and the car kinda jerks. Please Help :)
