Lazy days aren’t just for summers
When trying to picture a lazy day of doing nothing, it is all too easy for your mind to conjure up images of a hot summer day in which you lounge by the pool endlessly. And as nice and relaxing as that might sound right now, there is no need for you to wait until next year to enjoy a lazy day. You can have a perfectly good one right in the midst of the cold-weather months.
Instead of sitting by the pool like you would during the lazy summer months, try sitting by the fireplace. It keeps you nice and warm. Plus you can easily find yourself staring at the flames for hours on end.
Then instead of drinking a cold glass of lemonade or margarita, opt for some hot cocoa with fluffy marshmallows or a fine glass of wine. To add a little something more to the ambience, try putting on some soft music. It is sure to help you to relax into your lazy winter day.
Staring at the fireplace for hours not your cup of tea? Then how about adding a great book into the mix? Read the latest novel from start to finish as you sit by the fireplace. Or if you are interested in having a human companion, call up a good friend or a romantic interest.
Then chat away as you both enjoy the lazy day together. However, do keep in mind that if the person you called over is a romantic interest, lounging by the fireplace together can easily lead to things getting a little heated up between the two of you.

The strange and simple joys of life with Shelties
The joys of living with Shetland Sheepdogs can be both strange and simple. One of the things I love so much about the breed is their abundant fur. I love the luxurious feeling of running my fingers though Sasha’s sable coat, and caressing the top of her head with my face, feeling her ears flicking against my cheek. When you have a Sheltie, even with minimal grooming, you’ll always be able to drink in the sight, and feel, of beauty.
Shetland sheepdogs usually have loyal hearts, and they love their families like no other. You can be gone for two minutes, two hours or two weeks, and you’ll get a joyous greeting when you return, making you wish that you never need to leave again.
If you live where the weather gets wintry, you can start enjoying the cool nights when you have a Sheltie or two as foot warmers. They are the perfect size; large enough to be warm, yet small enough that they can fit on the bed with you. And you might even get some sweet and gentle Sheltie kisses when you awake.
The simple act of walking becomes more interesting when you experience it through the eyes, (or should that be nose?) of your Shetland sheepdog. Watch your Sheltie sniff the ground and imagine what wild animals she may be scenting.
Even housework can become a new experience, if your Sheltie likes to herd the vacuum cleaner as mine do. I whisk it around the room, and they circle around the vacuum’s head, occasionally dashing in to take a nip at that noisy beast.
So simple, and yes, strange, but Shelties can bring joy to your life in many ways.
Beauty tips to fight off a wild night out
Did you party too hard last night? Did the baby keep you up all night? Did you fight with your hubby or significant other all night? Now that it is morning does your face show the signs? What can you do?
If you have nowhere to go, you can crawl back in bed, unless you still have a baby to care for in the morning. If you have somewhere to go and you don’t want to show the effects of the night, you can put down the coffee cup and begin your overhaul.
Now that you have caffeine the inside your body, it is time to put some on the outside of your body. Begin by placing a warm green tea bag onto each eye. This will help reduce puffiness. Keep them on your eyes for two minutes. Now place them on the sides of your nose. Yes, this area can become inflamed, as well.
Once you dry off your eyes and nose, you are ready to start applying makeup. Of course, your best friend right now is a concealer. The best correctors are the green-tinted ones. These can help neutralize redness. As you are applying your makeup, skip the foundations and powders. If you have a great beauty balm cream, now is the ideal time to use it, especially one that has a tint to it. Your skin may be dry from any drinking you did and from not getting enough sleep.
One makeup step you must not skip is your eyes. If you can make your eyes look brighter, you will look more rested. Be sure to use an eyeliner and some mascara to give your eyes a wider and more open look.
Add some highlighter onto your cheekbones, along the bridge of your nose and the middle of your forehead. Finally, add some peachy colored blush and a bold hydrating lipstick. Now look at yourself in the mirror. Can you honestly tell that you had a rough night?

A weekend at a CrossFit Level 1 training class
I awoke early, bizarrely early for a weekend. Feeling a sense of apprehension, if not out-and-out dread, I drank coffee laced with coconut cream, and packed a lunch of steak salad. My stomach was a bit unsettled and eating breakfast did not appeal, yet I forced myself to eat some turkey roast and fruit. I knew that I’d need energy for the morning ahead.
Several months ago, I had signed up for non-refundable CrossFit level one training, and after I did it, I wondered why. True, I love the sport, but I haven’t had a burning desire to coach others, although I realized it would help my gym out if I could pick up classes now and then to give the regular coaches an occasional break. The sad fact is though, that I’m completely un-athletic, and uncertain about training others.
The seminar coaches were all excellent, and offered great opportunities to learn and observe movements, and then make coaching tips to help the athletes improve form, efficiency and safety. Under their tutelage, my ability to see movement expanded.
One of my favorite parts was learning how to coach the elements of the infamous benchmark worked called “Fran.” Inspired by the seminar staff and the fellow trainees, I set a personal record (PR), and was able to bask in the glow of “Fran Lung,” which seems to be a type of exercise induced asthma.
Now that I’ve completed the course, and I’m back at the gym, I find myself looking at athletes’ form, and being able to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. I’m also better able to correct my own form, and I better understand how good form will help over time. Now that I’ve experienced the intensity it took to PR Fran, I crave that feeling again. I may not ever coach others, but I’m improving as an athlete.

Holiday gift guide for Dad
Many people assume that shopping for their fathers during the holidays is a hard chore. They fear they will buy dad a horrible gift or a gift that he doesn’t want. For this reason, they tend to buy the traditional things that are advertised for fathers for the holidays. These gifts include ties, sweaters and watches. Yet, you don’t have to stick with the traditional gifts when shopping for your dad. All you need to do is stop and think about what your own personal dad likes.
Is there a sport he likes? Does he follow this sport on television or does he take part in the sport himself during his spare time? Would he enjoy some new accessories to enjoy playing this sport? For instance, if he is on a basketball team, would he enjoy some new set of sweats for training or a new pair of sneakers? If he follows a certain sports team, instead of playing the sport himself, why not get him a new T-shirt with the team logo on it, a new cap or even a key-chain with their logo on it?
Does he have a hobby that he enjoys? Does he fish, collect stamps or bird watch? Could you purchase something that pertains to the hobby?
Is dad a tool nut? Does he believe that he is a great at DIY projects? Is there some tools that he could add to his collection?
Does dad enjoy electronics? Would he enjoy some new accessories for his latest purchase? This can include everything from headsets, flash-drives and extra covers for tablets. Remember the accessories can make any electronic even more fun to use.
What about snacks? Are there any fun or healthy snacks that dad enjoys? This can include nuts or dark chocolate. You could purchase him a mixture of these snacks and place them in a nice basket, along with a DVD of the greatest highlights of his favorite sports team.
No, it doesn’t take a lot of money to purchase gifts that dad will like. However, it does take a little bit of imagination and a bit of knowledge about what your own dad likes.
