Writing Moms!
What could be more important than writing stories that inspire and effect a great number of people? Well being a mother of course! Why bother inspiring millions when you could be a more important inspiration for just one child. One author who has decided to balance the role of writer and mother is Christa M. Miller from Maine, U.S.
Christa M. Miller's published work includes Detachment Parenting, Waiting for Mommy to Wake Up, and the upcoming A Cruel World. She has also published numerous articles related to public safety and writing. Some of these published pieces can be found in NovelAdvice cyber journal, Police & Security News and Law Enforcement Journal.
One thing I enjoyed about reading the blog of Christa Miller is that she allows me to realize the possibility of being able to do what I love to do, which is write, and be a mother simultaneously. Sometimes I think it would be to difficult and that I would have to choose one or the other, but now I think it may be something I can do together.

Inspiration from India
It's been a while since I've found a blogspot blog from another part of the world. Occasionally I see some from the U.K....could it be I'm not looking in the right places? More than likely. Today though, I've hit the right place (athomewriting.blogspot.com). While surfing through author blogs this one caught my eye simply because of the beautiful blooming sunflower up in the corner. It made me turn my head and look out into my garden and appreciate the amazing colorful flowers blooming so far this summer. The blog in question is the blog of Bhaswati Ghosh, a published non-fiction writer from New Delhi, India.
Bhaswati gives us a taste of another world in her blog as she writes about different culture issues such as Indian culture, Latin American culture and FOOD. Yes, that's right folks. Food. Seeing the delicious food Bhaswati posted about on June 1st is making my mouth water. For now, I'm off to get some lunch, but I urge you all to check out the blog of Bhaswati called At Home Writing on blogspot.

B.K. Birch
Published author B.K. Birch has an interesting weblog available for reading at puregrace.blogspot.com/. The first thing I noted about this blog is the link and picture with the "current moon phase". That may seem trivial, but it's the only time I have run across something like that, and it caught my eye. B.K. Birch's blog has an excellent list of other blogs that the author frequents. Some of the published work of B.K. Birch includes an essay entitled Confessions of a Softball Mom which was published recently in Charlotte Parent Magazine. Another recently published work is called Caught in the Middle, a short story published in May of 2006 in Solander. The author notes in the blog that only 2 new short stories are chosen for that magazine on a yearly basis, so that is definitely an honor. B.K. Birch also has published poems in Penwomanship (literary mag), and upcoming Riverwalk Journal.
Supporting authors is the most important way to spread a love and desire for reading. Without authors, we wouldn't have the words available to soak in to the depths of our imagination. Give B.K. Birch a shot, you may experience something you never thought possible.

The Girl in the Glass
Time Magazine has added The Girl in the Glass to their list of top five "mystery writers worth investigating". The writer of this mystery novel can be found on LiveJournal as 14theditch
Although 14theditch (Jeffrey Ford) is predominately a mystery writer, his weblog is definitely a mixture of a lot of different thinngs. The first thing I noticed as I happened upon his LJ site was a picture of Tik-Tok from the L.Frank Baum Oz series, although being a youngster, I know him best from the 1980's movie Return to Oz.
14theditch also has some good links to stories on artists (John Picacio ) magazines (Time, Realms of Fantasy), feminism, comics, and more!
I really like that 14theditch has a varied personality. I really like being able to read about Andrew Wyeth and horror movies all in the same span of time. I really enjoy his personality, and I'm interested in checking out his book....in fact, I just put it in my hold queue at the Seattle public library, so I should be reading shortly!

Still Life with Soup Can
For those of you who are also lovers Tom Robbins, you will note that this title of this has a wonderful reference to it. Still Life with Woodpecker was the first Tom Robbins book I read, and it got me hooked. Now that I live in Seattle, I have the priviledge of seeing many of the sights and surroundings he filled his books with.
...Still Life with Soup Can is a blog that I happened upon today while looking up new and aspiring authors on their journey through the world of eating, sleeping, and dreaming about writing. Sarah is one of those writers.
Hailing from New Orleans, Sarah knows first hand about the life experiences that play into a writers voice in print. Her writings about New Orleans in particular give us a small peek into the life of someone dealing with a post-Katrina NOLA world.
This is a great blog to start reading. Soon enough you'll have thirteen reasons to love her blog. Thanks Sarah!

Aspiring Author
Today I found a blog that is absolutely adorable. Not only does the author share my love for cats, but my love for writing! The blog entitled AC's Notebook can be found at acvollers.blogspot.com.
Anna Claire is a managing editor for a unnamed lifestyle magazine that can be found throughout the southern U.S.. She also helps out editing a non-profit children's magazine. In her free time she enjoys being an aspiring novelist, a wife, and a mother to a precious kitty.
One of the reasons I enjoyed this blog was because of the free spirited and fun nature of the writing. I love blogs that are humorous without trying to hard.
The novel she is currently working on is a mystery set in the south involving everything from murder to politics. Sounds like it should be a hit! To keep up with Anna Claires writings, visit her blog to find out how her writing is coming!
